The South Korean bass, Young-Myoung Kwon, studied singing in Seoul and continued his studies at the Opera School of the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. He completed his vocal training through master-classes with Theo Adam, Christoph Prégardien and Renato Bruson in 2005 and attended the master-class Mitsuko Shirai and Hartmut Höll at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe.
Young-Myoung Kwon gained his first stage experience at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, where he was on stage regularly since the 2003-2004 season, and at the Stadttheater Regensburg, where he gave in 2006 guest appearance as Commendatore in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni. Since the 2006-2007 season, he is an ensemble member of the Staatsoper Hannover, where he has sung Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte and Osmin in the rap opera, Culture Clash: Die Entführung. The 2008-2009 season included appearances as Zuniga in Carmen, Colline in La Boheme and as Grand Inquisitor and Monk in Don Carlo. In June 2005 he took part in Offenbach Festival in Bad Ems. Appearances with the Bachchor Mainz, conducted by Ralf Otto, concerts and recitals in various countries such as Lithuania, Estonia, Italy and Germany round off his artistic activity. |
