The Canadian orchestra manager and producer and former counter-tenor, Dean Kustra, studied piano and composition in Toronto and at the Royal Academy of Music in London. During the 19900's and early 200's he sang as a counter-tenor with various ensembles and as a soloist.
Today Dean Kustra s the Managing Director of Orchester Wiener Akademie and Musikkonzept Veranstaltungsservice GmbH, with which he produces classical music-based concert and theatre projects, seeking new ways of combining artistic disciplines, eras and genres in Vienna and abroad. His achievements include a programme series with John Malkovich (The Infernal Comedy: Confessions of a Serial Killer, The Giacomo Variations and Call Me God) and cooperations with David Sylvain, the Théâtre National du Luxembourg and the Dubrovnik International Festival amongst others. Under Kustra’s management the Orchester Wiener Akademie has achieved a greater international profile and is increasingly engaged in new recording and theatre projects, while breaking new ground in the performance of music on period instruments. The orchestra performs an annual subscription series in Vienna presented by the Musikverein and tours regularly to major festivals and venues throughout Europe and North and South America. |
