Friedemann Kunder (Bass-Baritone)

Born: Germany

The German bass-baritone, Friedemann Kunder, began his singing career at the age of 9 as a member of Windsbach Boys’ Choir. After studying horn and music teaching in schools at the Nuremberg Conservatoire, he joined Martin Gründler’s singing class at the Frankfurt Musikhochschule in 1977. He was awarded his diploma and certificate of artistic maturity there in 1982. He has won numerous singing competitions, including s’Hertogenbosch, the VDMK finals in Berlin, and the Richard Wagner Prize in Bayreuth.

From 1977 to 1982 Friedemann Kunder was a member of the Bayreuth Festival Chorus. In 1982 he received his first solo engagement at the Städtische Bühnen in Heidelberg. From 1985 he was a member of the Städtische Bühnen Freiburg. Following an engagement at the Staatstheater Mainz, he joined the Deutsche Oper in Berlin. Gust appearances and concert tours took him to Italy, France, Holland, Israel, Spain, Switzerland and the USA. He has worked in numerous radio productions.
