The American mezzo-soprano, Laura Krumm, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.(2009); and her Master of Music degree from the University of North Texas (2012). She later graduated from the prestigious Adler Fellowship at the San Francisco Opera (2012-2013).
During her time as an Adler Fellow, Laura Krumm was heard in several roles on the company's mainstage including Rosina in the family performances of The Barber of Seville, the Countess Ceprano and the Page in Verdi's Rigoletto, and a Maid in the world premiere of Tobias Picker’s Dolores Claiborne. She also added a number of roles to her repertoire while with the company including Roméo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Dorabella in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte. She created the role of Martha in the world premiere of Nolan Gassers’ The Secret Garden for the San Francisco Opera Center and she sang Laura in Jack Perla's Love/Hate at the ODC Theater.
In recent seasons Laura Krumm made returns to the Lyric Opera of Chicago (2015) and San Francisco Opera (2014) to cover Angelina in La Cenerentola and a role debut of Sister Helen Prejean in Dead Man Walking which she performed for Fresno Grand Opera (2017). She also joined the roster of The Dallas Opera where she covered Jan Arnold in the world premiere of Joby Talbot's Everest (2015). She made her Skagit Opera debut performing the role of Angelina in La Cenerentola (2015) and sang the role of Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Opera Idaho (2015). In concert, she joined the Alexander String Quartet for performances of Jake Heggie’s Camille Claudel: Into the Fire as part of the Chamber Music at Kohl Mansion Concert series (2015). She debuted with the internationally renowned Berkeley Symphony in a performance of Kaija Saariaho’s Adriana Songs (2014), and joined the UC Davis Symphony for performances of Peter Lieberson's Neruda Songs (2014). She also joined choreographer Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet in their Brazil tour of Constellation where she sang the works of George Frideric Handel, Antonio Vivaldi, and Strauss in collaboration with a performance by the ballet corps.
Laura Krumm made in the 2016-2017 season role and company debuts performing Zerlina W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni for Nashville Opera, Mrs Webb in Our Town with Fresno Grand Opera, and Meg in Mark Adamo’s Little Women for Michigan Opera Theater where her performance was lauded as "exquisitely sung" and a "highlight of the evening" (Encore Michigan). On the concert stage she sang the Soprano II solos in J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232 with the Luther College Symphony Orchestra (April 2017) and joined American Lyric Theater in a recital of new opera at the Morgan Library. In the 2017-2018 season she returned to San Francisco Opera for several projects including Javotte in Vincent Boussard’s production of Manon and Siegrune in Francesca Zambello’s production of Die Walküre.
Laura Krumm's 2018-2019 season included Lola in Cavalleria rusticana and the Kitchen Boy in Rusalka, both with San Francisco Opera as well as covering Annio in W.A. Mozart's La clemenza di Tito with the Metropolitan Opera. 2019-2020 season saw her return to the Metropolitan Opera as Javotte in Manon and the cover of Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and a debut with the Santa Rosa Symphony for W.A. Mozart's Requiem. Her
Praised for her “exceptionally beautiful mezzo,” by San Francisco Classical Voice, highlights of the 2021-2022 season included Laura Krumm’s debut with Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra as Siegrune in Act III of Die Walküre at the Hollywood Bowl under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel, her celebrated Rosina with Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with Reno Philharmonic, and covering Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at The Metropolitan Opera and Austin Opera. She makes her onstage debut at The Metropolitan Opera in the 2022-2023 season as Dmitri in Fedora. She currently lives in San Francisco, California. |
