The German contralto, Susanne Kraus-Hornung studied German and musicology in Saarbrücken. She began her singing studies at the Opernschule of the Musikhochschule of this city. Further studies led her to the Musikhochschule Heidelberg/Mannheim, where she passed the artistic final examination after the diploma examination. Her teachers were Professor Jan Tamaru (Mainz) and Professor Rudolf Piernay (MA/London). She completed master-classes with Malcom King (Brussels) and Christa Ludwig.
Susanne Kraus-Hornung is active as concert, oratorio and opera singer in her homeland and abroad (France, Italy, Russia, Tschechien, Poland and Switzerland). She has appeared at the Berner Münster, the Liederhalle Stuttgart and the Herkulessaal München, among many others. She gives Lieder recitals of broad literature, predominantly with Ulrich Eisenlohr. She made her opera debut at the Herrnsheimer Schlossfestspielen with overwhelming success.
Since 1995 Susanne Kraus-Hornung is active as singing teacher at the Staatlichen Musikhochschule Heidelberg/Mannheim. |
