The Polish baritone, Szymon Komasa, began his musical education with playing the cello. He continued mastering this instrument and completed this stage of his education with graduating from the Karol Szymanowski State Music High School in Warsaw. He then went on to attend classical vocal studies at the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź. He began his studies in 2004 and graduated with honours in 2009. He also graduated from the department of opera studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London as well as the Artist Diploma of Opera Singing Programme at The Julliard School of Music in New York in vocal class of Edith Wiens. He is the laureate and winner of numerous International Vocal Competitions, both opera contests and song contests.
Szymon Komasa's international stage debut was in 2009 as Schaunard in La bohème at the Teatro Filharmonico/Arena di Verona in Verona.He has performed with lied recitals at Carnegie Hall (2012) and at Wigmore Hall (2012). Apart from playing classical opera roles in the operas by such composers as W.A. Mozart, Bellini, Donizetti or Verdi, he has been successfully performing in operas written by contemporary composers, like Korine Fujiwara (The Flood) or Paweł Mykietyn (The Magic Mountain). Apart from singing, Szymon loves cinema and acrobatics. |
