The German tenor, Martin Koch, received his first musical training with Hamburger Knabenchor St. Nikolai and as a member of the Monteverdi-Chor Hamburg. He completed his singing studies at the Hochschule für Musik Köln, department of Aachen, with Professor Josef Protschka and with Professor Peter-Christoph Runge.
Still during his studies, Martin Koch received an engagement at the Studio der Deutschen Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf/Duisburg, where he was selected in 1999 as the new generation singer of the year in North Rhine-Westphalia. Engagements at the Stadttheater Pforzheim and at the Oldenburgischen Staatstheater followed. In addition, guest engagements led him to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, to the Bayrische Staatsoper München and to the Stadttheater Osnabrück, where he took over the title role of the opera Candide by Leonard Bernstein. As a concert singer he is active internationally and has become estimated in particularly for his interpretation of the Evangelist in J.S. Bach's oratorios.
For the 2004-2005 season, Martin Koch is a member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Kassel. His roles are Knusperhexe in Haensel and Gretel , Wenzel in Die verkaufte Braut and Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro. |
