The German mezzo-soprano, Gabriele-Betty Klein, studied in Berlin with Johannes Hoefflin, Aribert Reimann and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, among others. She participated in master-classes with Hilde Zadek and Ruth Berghaus. She won prizes at international competitions and was a scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes.
Gabriele-Betty Klein is primarily at home in the Lied and Concert areas; she is a member of the NDR-Chor (since August 1994), and occasionally she is also engaged in opera. In 2012 she sang Orff's Carmina Burana with the Junge Orchester Hamburg, Jugendchor Resonans con tutti and Neuen Knabenchor Hamburg. In 2011, she was featured in a highly acclaimed performance of Boris Blacher's Der Großinquisi-tor at the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial Site, as well as in the title role of George Frideric Handel's opera Teseo in a production at the Hamburger Musikhochschule. |
