The German soprano, Eva Kirchner, who grew up in Kassel, received her training at the College of Music of Cologne, where she was a student of Margit Kobeck. She finished her studies there with honors, and was the prize-winner of many competitions.
Already during her studies, Eva Kirchner appeared in smaller roles at the Cologne Opera House, including in Rosenkavalier and in Zauberflöte, and in 1992 she also appeared as the Princess in L'Enfant et les sortiléges by Ravel. In 1992 she signed with the State Opera of Dresden. Under conducters like Sir Colin Davis, Semyon Bychkow, Giuseppe Sinopoli and others, her repertoire grew. Here she sang roles from the lyric and coloratura repertoire, such as Euridice in Orpheus by Gluck, Marzelline in Fidelio and Zerline in Don Giovanni. At the Opera House of Cologne she had appeared as Papagena in Zauberflöte and as Taumünnchen in Hänsel and Gretel. Her repertoire includes also other roles such as W.A. Mozart's Susanna, Zerlina and Servilia, Weber's Ännchen, Verdi's Nanetta, Puccini's Musetta, the part of Ghita in Zemlinsky's Zwerg as well as the Hilde in Peter Ruzicka's first performance of Celan.
Eva Kirchner has been also a concert singer. In 1995 she was distinguished with the Christel Goltz Prize of the Dresdn Opera. From her guest performances in many opera houses, and a large song and concert repertoire, Eva has had numerous invitations to sing all over Europe, with brilliant masters like Helmuth Rilling, Philippe Herrewege, Michael Plasson and Ludwig Güttler. The WDR (westgerman-broadcasting corporation) broadcast live several of her song recitals, and recorded rare passages like the Japanische Lieder by Grete von Zieritz. The Montpellier Festival de la Radio France broadcast and televised W.A. Mozart's Lucio Silla and Das Buch mit den sieben Siegeln of Franz Schmidt.
