The Austrian tenor, David Kerber, began his classical singing training at the age of 5 with the Wiltener Sängerknaben under the direction of Professor Johannes Stecher, where he continues to this day to perform concerts and oratorios. Already as As a choirboy he participated in numerous opera productions at the Tyrolean State Theater, the Tyrolean Festival in Erl, at the Vorarlberg State Theater and at the Salzburg Festival. He sang the boys' roles from Lohengrin and Parsifal by R. Wagner , Tosca by G. Puccini, Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart and the main role in the commissioned work of the Salzburg Festival "Meine Bienen. Eine Schneise" based on text by Klaus Handel and with music by Franui.
David Kerber has received strong artistic impulses through the collaboration with Kammersängerin Angelika Kirchschlager, Kammersängerin Brigitte Fassbaender and Linda Watson, among other things in master-classes as part of her Eppaner Liedsommers. He is also a prize winner of numerous competitions and foundations, for example he was awarded the sponsorship prize of the Professor Armin Weltner Foundation in Zürich at the Scala in Milan (August 2019) and he was repeatedly awarded prizes at the International Haydn Singing Competition 2021 in Rohrau, Lower Austria (June 2021 - 2nd Prize),, the 36th Concorso Internationale di Canto “Maria Caniglia” in Sulmona (November 2021 - 3rd Prize) as well as at the Future Voices competition by Elina Granča.
The song is his great passion, so he was able to create with with the Austrian actress Maresa Hörbiger the evening program "Write to me or I die" with the Austrian actress Maresa Hörbiger – evenings of recitation and song - performed and staged in theaters in Vienna; and already several song evenings with his evening "The poet love - a light dream" at the Semmering cultural summer and give at Jeunesse. A particular passion of David Kerber is Baroque music, and he has been heard dozens of times with J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) and Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244); as well as George Frideric Handel's The Messiah, and numerous J.S. Bach's cantatas. He was recently able to record the role of the Evangelist in J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) together with the Academia Jacobus Stainer and the Wiltener Sängerknaben. The operetta is also close to David Kerber's heart, which he was able to show in February 2019 together with KS Angelika Kirchschlager as a partner in their portrait concert in his debut at the Vienna Coffee House Ball, accompanied by the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra. He was also able to prove himself as a singer on screen, so he sang the film music in the film Zwei Herren im Suit (Two Men in a Suit) by Josef Bierbichler, which was released in cinemas in 2018.
David Kerber has already begun to attract attention from opera houses and concert venues at his early age with his astonishing timbre and musicality, and stage presence. He made his opera debut twice in 2019 at the Bregenz Festival. In the Kornmarkt Opera Studio as Triquet in Eugen Onegin under Valentin Uryupin and as Paggio on the lake stage in Rigoletto under Enrique Mazzola. In 2021 he sang in Richard Wagner's Lohengrin at the Tyrolean Festival Erl and in the Tyrolean State Theater in Péter Eötvös' Der goldene Dragon. He will be a permanent member of the ensemble at the Volksoper Wien for two years from the 2022-2023 season. He will also be able to make his debut as Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in 2023 together with the Reisopera in Holland under Marcus Merkel; and Alfred in Die Fledermaus, among others. Liederabends and concerts also are part of his exciting schedule in upcoming seasons, including a Pleyel evening as part of the Serenade Concerts in Lower Austria in September 2022, and J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) with the Wiltener Sängerknaben in December 2022. He has also been invited to compete in Elina Garanca and Karel Mark Chichon’s prestigious scheme for young artists ‘’Voices of the Future’’in Gottweih, Austria, taking place in July 2022. |
