The German tenor, Ulf Kenklies, studied at the Hannover Conservatory under the tutelage of Otto Köhler.
Following his successful audition at the Mozart Contest in Salzburg, Ulf Kenklies appeared in many radio and TV programs, made concert tours to the USA and often to Israel, not to mention other locations in Europe. He has sung in festivals in Athens, Bergen, Donaueschingen, and the Schleswig-Holstein-Musik-Festival, as well as having appeared as a guest at the Hamburg Opera and the Theatre in Venice.
Ulf Kenklies' many-faceted repertoire encompasses most of the important works of concert literature, ranging from J.S. Bach to Igor Stravinsky. Numerous premiere performances of modern compositions, including the interpretation of seldom-heard works have also added to his wide experience. With his special, clown-like talent in his signal performances as the Swan in Orff's Carmina Burana (over 140 performances), he has enjoyed great success. He has sung under the baton of Fabio Luisi, Herbert Blomstedt, Krzysztof Penderecki, Hans Zender and Günter Wand, and has taught voice at University in Bremen. |
