The German contralto, Dinah Kamm, received piano lessons singe age 5. At 10, as a high-school student she could already sing in the school choir under Karl Richter in performances of J.S. Bach’s Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244). Since that time, she loved music, especially the works of J.S. Bach. Parallel to her piano studies, she took singing lessons even as a student. Her first teacher was the soprano Annelies Kupper. During school,
she stood on a regular basis as a statist on the stage of the Münchner Staatsoper. The great performances there left a deep impression. After graduation, she studied piano and singing in Würzburg. Since then she continues her enthusiasm for music as a piano teacher. In Munich, Gregory Eichhorn, the former choir director of the Bayerischen Staatsoper, was her music teacher and accompanist and soprano Liselotte Fölser her singing teacher. To this day she continues with her valuable advice. Participation in a master-class by mezzo-soprano Fedora Barbieri was a trip to the Italian opera.
Dinah Kamm performs regularly as a contralto in concerts in Munich and the surrounding area. She belongs to the Sacrum & Profanum - Ensemble für Alte Musik München since 1996. |
