The Kammerorchester Dieter Sauer (= KODS) was founded in 1970 in Pfaffenhofen a.d. Ilm and has continued to develop in the 34 years of its existence. From the beginning, the KDOS was devoted to the entire orchestral literature for strings, including the music of the 20th century, but soon has become a much sought-after partner in performances of oratorios, orchestral masses, etc.
The repertoire of the KODS does not lack significant works. The outstanding event in the history of the orchestra was a concert in October 1988, the first performance of Franz Hummel's Sinfonie für Sopran und Streichorchester with Eva Csapó at the Festsaal des Stadttheaters Ingolstadt. The busy concert schedule of the ensemble throughout southern Germany has always been supplemented by appearances abroad (Italy, France, the Czech Republic). The members of the orchestra are mostly graduates and students of music colleges in Munich, Würzburg and Nürnberg-Augsburg.
Dieter Sauer studied at the Musikhochschule München, first music education and then the violin with Professor Otto Büchner. He soon became a permanent member of the Münchener Bach-Orchester, conducted by Karl Richter. From 1965 to 2002 he served at the Schyren-Gymnasium Pfaffenhofen as a music educator. Since 1980 he is a lecturer in violin at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. The KODS has performed 28th times in the Baringer
