The American soprano, Katie Jillson, began her musical studies with the piano at the age of 7, and she discovered her passion for singing in her early adolescent years. She later completed her musical studies at the New England Conservatory of Music, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. She is currently pursuing her Masters In Voice at the Longy School of Music at Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts (since 2020). She was selected as a participant in the 2016 OperaWorks Winter Intensive Program.
Katie Jillson has been delighting audiences with her singing for the past two decades, performing with organizations in the New England area such as Masterworks Chorale (Cambridge), the Paul Madore Chorale (Salem), Boston Cecilia, Zensemble (Jamaica Plain), and The Down East singers of Thomaston, Maine. She is also a frequent soloist at St. Ignatius of Loyola church in Chestnut Hill, where she has been a member of the music ministry since 1999. In May 2021, she performed a solo recital at the Longy School of Music. Here she sang the works of W.A. Mozart, Francis Poulenc and Hamilton. In November 2021, she performed in George Frideric Handel's opera Alcina at the Longy School of Music. Excelling in the early and classical repertoire, she has performed as a soloist in works including G.F. Handel's Messiah, Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, J.S. Bachs St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244), F. Poulenc's Stabat Mater, Schubert's Der Hirt auf dem Felsen, and W.A. Mozart's Requiem.
Katie Jillson works as Voice teacher at Dedham School of Music (since 2017), and Voice and Piano Teacher at Katie Jillson Voice and Piano Studio (since 2015). She currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts. |
