Andrei Jilihovschi (Baritone)

Born: 1985 - Republic of Moldova

The Moldovan baritone, Andrei Jilihovschi, completed in 2066 his studies in choral conducting at the Stefan Neaga Music College in Chisinau. While there, he simultaneously studied as a vocalist in the opera studio. Following his graduation, he continued in 2006 his studies at the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatoire. At the Conservatoire Opera Studio he made his debut in the title role in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. His Awards: Diploma at the International Vocal Competition in St. Petersburg (2007); 3rd Prize at the Elena Obraztsova Young Singers International Competition (2009); 3rd Prize at the Maria Bieșu International Vocal Competition (2012).

From 2010 to 2012, Andrei Jilihovschi was a soloist with the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg where he appeared as Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Schaunard in La Boheme, Robert in Iolanta, Prince in Boris Asafiev’s Cinderella, Silvano in Un ballo in maschera, Baron Douphol in La Traviata and Dancairo in Georges Bizet's Carmen. In 2011 he made his debut at the Latvian National Opera as Figaro in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia.

In October 2012 Andrei Jilihovschi joined the Bolshoi Theatre Young Artist Program. In 2014-2015 season he became a soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company. He would become a guest soloist there performing numerous roles. including: Baritone in performance Be in the Mood for Opera; Marcello in La Boheme; Flemish deputy in Don Carlo; Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus; Guglielmo in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte; The Lamplighter in Banevich’s The Story of Kai and Gerda; Count Almaviva in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro; Dancairo in Carmen.

Andrei Jilihovschi made his Paris Opera debut in 2016 singing the role of Robert in Iolanta and he made his first Glyndebourne Festival appearance in 2017 in Don Pasquale (Malatesta). He regularly performs in concert with conductors like Mikhail Tatarnikov, Vassily Petrenko, and Modestas Pitrenas and works with directors like Arno Bernard, Aik Karapetian and Andrei Zhagars. Projects: Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at the Washington Opera, Count Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro) at the Rome Opera, and Betrothal in a Monastery at the Deutsche
