The Dutch soprano and singing teacher, Ria Janssen-Rathgeber, studied singing and music education at the Conservatorium Maastricht in the Netherlands. She completed her studies in 1984 with a pedagogical diploma. She had her first permanent engagement as a soloist in 1985 at the Stadttheater Oberhausen, while at the same time she continued her studies with a focus on concert and opera. In 1986 she was a finalist at the Belvedere Competition Vienna/Budapest.
This was followed by Ria Janssen's engagements at the Landestheater Coburg, Stadttheater Osnabrück and Palladium Theater Stuttgart, and she gave many guest performances in Nürnberg, Saarbrücken, Lübeck and other cities. She continued her education with Anna Reynolds and Anita Salta, attended workshops with Elly Ameling and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. Courses with Jo Estill and Cathrine Sadolin also expanded her vocal range. As part of her busy concert career, she had a TV appearance for the ZDF Sunday concert, recorded several CD's and appeared in front of audiences with two of her own programs.
Ria Janssen has been director of several vocal ensembles: Vocal Group In the Mood (since December 2017), Vocaal Ensemble "Air" (since September 2019), Mannenkoor Excelsior (since May 2020).
As a lecturer Ria Janssen teaches in her own studio, since 2000 at GoVocal in Stuttgart, from 2002 to 2005 at the Musikschule Waldstetten and since October 2013 at the Musikschule in Wernau. She is a member of the Bundesverband Deutscher Gesangspädagogen BDG e.V. |
