The Canadian soprano, Christina Jahn, has appeared with the Toronto Consort, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Opera Atelier, Aradia Baroque Ensemble, the University of Calgary Celebrity Series, Sine Nomine Ensemble for Medieval Music, Vancouver Cantata Singers, Elektra Women's Choir and at the Carmel Bach Festival in California. She has recorded for Marquis (Michael Praetorius' Christmas Vespers with Toronto Consort), Naxos, Skylark and CBC Records.
Christina Jahn founded musica intima in Vancouver and since her return to Calgary in 2000, formed and is Artistic Director for VoiceScapes. In addition to extensive work in early music, Christina has also premiered and recorded a number of new compositions by Canadian composers. Recent engagements include George Frideric Handel's Israel in Egypt with Early Music Vancouver, J.S. Bach's Schwingt freudig euch empor (BWV 36) with Alberta Baroque Ensemble, Serpina in Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's La Serva Padrona, Ariel in Tempest, and singing to over 25,000 people at Globalfest's Fireworks Finale. |
