The International Baroque Players (= IBP) are a collective comprising the best young Baroque musicians from all over the world, and are a milestone orchestra for their generation. They take pride in exploring more diverse corners of the baroque repertoire alongside more established staples, and enjoy delivering every performance with their trademark precision, charisma and flair.
They formed in 2009 out of training courses run by Aldeburgh Music and the European Union Baroque Orchestra. Since then they have performed twice at the 100 Club, once in collaboration with Daniel Hope. They were invited to perform with Dame Emma Kirkby at the Brighton Early Music Festival in 2010, in a concert that was broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and subsequently earned a glowing review in the Daily Telegraph. 2012 saw the launch of their debut disc on the Raumklang label entitled “Pisendel - Violin Concertos from Dresden” which features works by George Frideric Handel, Georg Philipp Telemann, Johann Georg Pisendel, Johann Friedrich Fasch and Johann David Heinichen, four of which are premiere recordings. They have earned fantastic reviews and features in the Early Music Review, Early Music Today, Radio 3’s Early Music Show and In Tune, as well as local press in Oxford and Bristol.
They are a testament to the enormously high level of music talent amongst the newest generation of professionals. Their energy and charisma combined with a fantastic rapport between the players make for performances which are consistently dynamic, unique and electrifying. Their approach, as as smart and stylish twenty-somethings, is to ensure that their work is constantly stimulating and challenging, setting them apart from many of their peers. They revel in presenting lesser-known yet extremely valuable works from the baroque era, alongside their more popular counterparts. The fact that they have all made the choice to pursue their passion for historical performance together as friends as well as colleagues makes for a truly dynamic performance. It is this dynamism which lies at the heart of the players' philosophy and creates a foundation upon which they can entertain and inspire. |
