The Hungaria violinist, Vilmos Tátrai, founded the Hungarian Chamber Orchestra (Hungaran: Magyar Kamarazenekar) in 1957 and was its leader for for nearly three decades, although the orcherstra had no conductor.
The Hungarian Chamber Orchestra was reformed in October 2011 to revive and continue the tradition of the old Hungarian Chamber Orchestra. Leader of the rejuvenated Hungarian Chamber Orchestra is Béla Bánfalvi, one-time member of the Bartók String Quartet and former concertmaster of the State Concert Orchestra and Budapest Strings. |
