The German tenor, Sebastian Hübner, sang in choirs and received violin lessons since his earliest youth. He learned later, some autodidactic, guitar, viola and piano. During a year abroad in the USA, he became a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the U.S. state of Washington. At the humanistic school, he trained as a violin maker. For six years he worked in the workshop of Pierre Chaubert in Füssen / Allgäu. In parallel, he studied singing privately who Albrecht Ostertag, who informed him with a functional mediated technology. At the Musikhochschule Stuttgart and the Musikhochschule Mannheim he eventually studied singing with Georg Jelden, Alejandro Ramirez and Gerd Türk.
Even during his last academic semester, Sebastian Hübner received a teaching position at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Heidelberg, which he has to this day. He finished his teaching at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt at his own request in 2007.
As a tenor singer Sebastian Hübner is specialising in the fields of the early and new music. As a soloist and as a member of the Schola Heidelberg Ensemble he performed a large number of contemporary works and world premiere performances. Regular radio recordings and CD productions accompany this part of his work. He has international reputation as Baroque artist, especially as the Evangelist in J.S. Bach's oratorios and passions.
In the field of opera Sebastian Hübner was heard in works by Heiner Goebbels and Luigi Nono at the Berlin Festival, the Mannheimer Nationaltheater and the Frankfurter Oper House. In 2007 he sang at the Festival Musica Insieme in Umbria, the title role in Joseph Haydn's opera Orlando. |
