The French soprano, Véronique Housseau, began singing in a children's choir and the Maîtrise de Paris. She studied at Collège Octave Gréard in Paris. She trained with Anna Maria Bondi at the Schola Cantorum Paris, where she obtained her Higher Diploma in singing. Meanwhile she studied at the Université de la Sorbonne and obtained her Bachelor of Music Degree in Musicology (2000-2005). In 2005, she enrolled at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and obtained her Master of Music degree in Singing in June 2010. She specialized with the vocal coaches Anne Le Bozec, Susan Manoff, Olivier Reboul, Sandrine Piau, Robert Expert and Kenneth Weiss for Baroque repertoire and Malcolm King. She obtained her degree in Baroque singing from Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris (September 2012-June 2015).
Among the roles Véronique Housseau plays include Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and Zerlina in Don Giovanni by W.A. Mozart (staged by Stephen Taylor, , Escales Lyriques de l’Ile d’Yeu, August 2007), Adele in Die Fledermaus by J . Strauss (staged by Emmanuelle Cordoliani, March 2008), the Little Vixen child Frantik and the Cock in The cunning Little Vixen ny Janacek (staged with puppets by Vincent Vittoz, Cité de la Musique, March 2009; reperised at the Rouen, Reims and Liège) and the title role of Eurydice, mon Amour (June and July 2011). In August 2012, she wa Cupid and She in King Arthur by H. Purcell at the Festival du Périgord Noir, under the direction of Michel Laplénie.
Véronique Housseau performs regularly in concert and in 2011 she was winner of the Chanteurs solistes professionnels de la Société Française des Chefs de Choeu. She has been heard in Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and Motets by Campra under the direction of François Lazarevitch, Salve Regina by Alessandro Scarlatti, J.S. Bach's Cantatas, Cantata BWV 140 under the direction of Patrick Cohën-Akenine, Requiem, Coronation Mass and Regina Coeli by W.A. Mozart, Harmoniemesse by J. Haydn, Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, Psalm 42 by Felix Mendelssohn ...
With pianist Jean-Paul Pruna, Véronique Housseau gave recitals of Lieder and melodies by Gabriel Fauré, Ravel, Debussy, Benjamin Britten, Wolf. (Jeunes Talents). She was assessed in a voice and harp concert Entre Ciel et Terre (Between Heaven and Earth) with profane and sacred classical and bel canto arias. She was invited in April 2011 for a concert tour around the Stabat Mater by G.B. Pergolesi (in Auvergne and Italy) and in December 2011 for the first Festival de musique sacrée de Jordanie "Animae Musica".
Passionate of various repertoires, Véronique Housseau's tastes are very eclectic, from early music to contemporary music. She performed the world premiere of works by contemporary composers: Jean Yves Bosseur (Cheminements au ras du sol, 2004), Éric Lebrun (Tota pulchra es, 2006), Philippe Mazé (Messe du Vieux Cours, 2006), Jean-Charles Robin-Gandrille (Poème En mémoire des victimes innocentes de la guerre d’Irak, 2003; 3 Poèmes for voice, cello and piano, 2006. Deux vocalises for soprano, double-bass and piano, 2007. Cinq Élégies et Poème de Soriano, 2009) and Gaja Maffezzoli (Eurydice, mon Amour, 2010).
Alongside her singing activities, Véronique Housseau engages in the design of musical programs and founded in 2010 Ensemble La Cavatine, with which she gave a lyrical performance Eurydice, mon Amour. Other programs are in progress: a programme around J.S. Bach with soprano, oboe and organ; a concert Héroïnes, coquines et cavatines for voice and harp; another German Romantic Lieder for soprano, clarinet and piano, Paysage sentimental; and finally, with Ensemble Les Muses Galantes, a programme Luigi Boccherini, Musique à la cour d’Espagne sous l’Infant Don Luis. She currently lives in Paris, France. |
