The American soprano, Alexandra (Ali) Rose Hotz, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performanc, minored in Music Theatre, Theatre Arts Magna cum laude from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (2014-2018); her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance & Literature from Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (2018-May 2020); and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance & Literature from Eastman School of Music in the studio of Anthony Dean Griffey (since August 2020; expected graduation 2023). During her studies, she has been Choral Scholar at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Oxford, Ohio (August 2017-May 2018), and at Lake Ave Baptist Church in Rochester, New York (since August 2018).
Praised for her musicianship and shimmering tone, soprano Alexandra Rose Hotz is equally at home on the opera and recital stage. She has performed at Eastman as the title role in George Frideric Handel's Alcina (February 2023), and as Mlle. Silberklang in W.A. Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor, She has also performed as Phaino in Here Be Sirens (Suite) by American composer Kate Soper (November 2021), and has worked with other living composers on their music, including Ben Moore, Anthony Davis, and Stephen Hartke. She was to play Johanna in by Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, prior to its cancellation. As a concert soloist, she has performed several oratorios, including J. Haydn's The Creation and G.F. Handel's Messiah, as well as Eastman School of Music: Bach Cantata Series. Most recently, she performed Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 at Kodak Hall. She received an Encouragement Award at the 2022-2023 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition at the Buffalo/Toronto District.
