The French soprano, Julie Horreaux, studied violin and cello, but also dance and theater. After studying Literature and Philosophy, she studied opera singing with Peggy Bouveret, Professor at the CNSM de Paris and at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam in the class of David Wilson-Johnson. She perfected her singing with Raphaël Sikorski at Centre de la Voix. She also studied at the Art Lyrique au conservatoire Hector Berlioz, where she earned a first medal unanimously, and theater. Passionate about early music, she studied interpretation with Paul Esswood and Howard Crook, and French music with Jean Saint-Arroman.
Julie Horreaux has performed in many ensembles: as a soloist with La Compagnie Baroque (Director: Michel Verschaeve), Les Demoiselles de Saint Cyr (Director: Emmanuel Mandrin), Ensemble Alcyone (Director: Marc Perbost)... and as an ensemble member of Le Concert d'Astrée (Director: Emmanuelle Haïm), Le Concert Spiritual (Director: Hervé Niquet), La Simphonie Marais (Director: Hugo Reyne), Akadêmia Ensemble (Director: Françoise Lasserre), Le Collectif Vocal Chronos (Director: Silvio Segantini)... On stage, she sang the roles of Belinda in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Suzanne in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, etc. As an oratorio soloist, she has sung Gabriel in The Creation by Joseph Haydn, Exsultate Jubilate and Requiem by W.A. Mozart, Laudate Pueri Psalm by George Frideric Handel, Cantata BWV 51 by J.S. Bach, Les Saisons by Marc-Antoine Charpentier and Les Leçons de Ténèbres de by François Couperin, which she also recorded in 2008 with Diana Higbee and Jean-Luc Ho. She also gives recitals. She is also interested in jazz, studying with Benjamin Legrand, and dedicatee of compositions by Desplan Bruno, with whom she recorded the album "Chansons de Neptune".
Passionate about theater, Julie Horreaux joined Compagnie Jolie Môme for which he wrote several pieces and songs. In 2010, she founded and is the Artistic Director of Compagnie Soleil de Nuit, dedicated to musical theater, real labotory of research and creation, which released in succession four shows: "Prévert à tue-tête...", "Bouteilles à la mer", "En sortant de l'école..." et "Zazie dans le métro Ze muZical".
