The Canadian baritone singer and Artistic Consultan/Outreach Officer, Ryan Hofman, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Voice and Opera from University of Ottawa (2008-2012); Master's of Music in Vocal Performance from University of Ottawa (2012-2014); his Master's degree in Voice and Opera from The University of British Columbia (2015-2017. He also studied Music Business at Humber College (May-December 2020). He is a two-time Brian Law Competition Finalist; was also a first runner-up in the 2017 National Music Festival. In September 2020, he was also one of two Canadian singers invited to sing as part of the Grandi Voci Competition in Salzburg, Austria.
Ryan Hofman was chorister in Ontario Youth Choir (2006-2011); Intern at Opera Lyra Ottawa (September 2013-May 2014). As audiences continue to respond to his warm baritone voice and insightful dramatic and musical interpretations, the 2019-2020 season proved to be his busiest to date with several impressive debuts. In September 2019, he made his solo debut as the title character in Grieg’s Peer Gynt with the National Arts Centre Orchestra. In May, he also made his debut with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Alain Trudel in an operatic program featuring renowned Canadian soprano, Measha Brueggergosman-Lee. He has been Artistic Consultant and Outreach Officer at Southern Ontario Lyric Opera (since Februaery 2023), New Opera Lyra (since June 2023), and Opera York (since November 2023). He returned to Southern Ontario Lyric Opera, where company credits include Masetto in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Betto in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and Marullo in Verdi’s Rigoletto. He currently lives in Toronto, Ontario. |
