The Argentinean soprano, Nilda Hoffmann, studied at the Instituto Superior de Arte of Teatro Colón Buenos Aires with Edytha Fleischer. She was also pupil of the teachers Erich Engel, Juan Emilio Martini and Felipe Romito.
Nilda Hoffmann made her debut in May 1945 at the Teatro Coliseo in Buenos Aires in "The fairy tale of the Zaren Saltan" by Rimsky Korssakov. In 1948 she attracted attention in Buenos Aires when she appeared as a soloist in Missa Solemnis by L.v. Beethoven under the direction of Erich Kleiber. She had a successful career at the Teatro Colón Buenos Aires as other Argentine theatres and appeared as a guest in Montevideo, São Paulo and Santiago de Chile. In addition, she was considered as an outstanding Mozart interpreter in roles like Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Pamina in the Zauberflöte and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni. Her extensive stage repertoire also included roles as Freia in Rheingold, Eva in Meistersingern.
From 1975 to 1990 Nilda Hoffmann was a professor at the Instituto Superior de Arte of Teatro Colón Buenos Aires.
