The Australian tenor, William Herbert, was chorister at St. Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne.
William Herbert first sang Messiah, aged 18. He was contracted to A.B.C. He made his UK debut in 1947 and since then participated in all leading British Festivals. He sang at the Inaugural concert of the Royal Festival Hall in London, and participated in Edward Elgar Centenary. He returned frequently to Australia and toured also New Zealand, Persia and Switzerland. He specialised in oratorio singing. |
