The American baritone, actor, and teacher, Jason Hentrich, began his formal training at Cabrillo College, studying drama, voice, and conducting. In 2017, the Cabrillo music department, represented by Cheryl Anderson, awarded him its Artist of Distinction Award. He transferred to the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland. He studied voice with John Shirley-Quirk and Steven Rainbolt. While at Peabody, he performed in master-classes with Marni Nixon, Dalton Baldwin, and William Sharp. He was a teaching assistant to Thomas Grubb. He then continued his theatrical studies at the Studio Acting Conservatory in Washington, DC. He studied with Joy Zinoman, Serge Seiden, Nancy Paris, and Kate Debelack. He joined the faculty of Studio Acting Conservatory as a Guest Artist in June 2020.
Jason Hentrich is active as a singer, actor, and teacher in the Baltimore/Washington area. He performs in plays, musicals, opera, choral works, and recitals. His theater credits include Company, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, Assassins, Alice In Wonderland, The Fall of the House of Usher, Becoming George, Fiddler on the Roof, Travesties, Hello Again, and ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore. He has sung at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as a chorister in 20 productions with the Washington National Opera, including Nabucco, Georges Bizet's Carmen, and Der Ring des Nibelungen. He was a soloist at WNO in Andrea Chénier and Lucrezia Borgia. He appeared as a baritone soloist in Carmina Burana and Monteverdi's Vespers with the Annapolis Chorale, and sings regularly as a soloist and section leader with the choir of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Annapolis.
Jason Hentrich teaches music at Pointers Run Elementary School in Clarksville, Maryland and Acting for Singers at the Peabody Preparatory in Baltimore. He is currently pursuing an M.Ed. in Kodály Music Education at Loyola Maryland University. He has previously taught at Maryland Opera’s Summer Opera Camp, Washington College, Imagination Stage, and Prince George’s County Public Schools. He lives in Maryland with his wife and their dog. In his spare time he enjoys games of all kinds, homebrewing, and strength training. |
