The American soprano, Debra Hays, studied singing at the Oklahoma University (BME 1979). After graduation she taught choral music in Houston. She completed her master of music degree in vocal performance at the University of Houston, Texas in 1988.
After finishing her studies, Debra Hays received engagements at the Houston Grand Opera and the Lyric Opera of Dallas. In 1991 she moved to Germany, and has an extensive experience as an opera and concert singer to look back. Her repertoire includes roles such as Gilda, Sophie, Gretel, Pamina, Susanna, Olympia and Adele. Numerous radio and CD recordings round out her artistic activity. Since 1991-1992 season, she is an ensemble member of the Vereinigten Städtischen Bühnen Krefeld und Mönchengladbach (combined theatres of Krefeld and Mönchengladbach, and has already been heard there in roles as Despina, Musette, Ännchen and Cunegonde in Candide. |
