The English soprano, Rachel Haworth (Franklin), received her musical tuition at the Royal Northern College of Music Junior Department (2009-2012) before going on to read English at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge (Bachelor of Arts degree in English: 2012-2015), where she was also an Organ Scholar and sang with the University Chamber Choir. After graduating, she was the Graduate Assistant Organist at Sidney Sussex from 2015-2016 and then sang with the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge the following year, when she took up the position of Choir Administrator (September 2016-September 2017).
Rachel Haworth has been a freelance organist since Jun 2005; and a freelance soprano since September 2019. She joined St Martin-in-the-Fields in September 2019 as a choral scholar and was then appointed a Fellowship with St Martin’s Voices from 2020 to 2021. She was also a choral scholar at St Saviour’s Church, Pimlico. She now enjoys a busy performing, touring and recording schedule with groups such as Tenebrae (Director: Nigel Short), BBC Singers (Director: Sofi Jeannin), Alamire and Ex Cathedra (Director: Jeffrey Skidmore). Alongside singing, she is a Visiting Music Teacher of Organ, Piano and Singing at The Leys School in Cambridge (since September 2017) and also works as a freelance organist and accompanist. She married Phil Franklin on July 13, 2019 and currently lives in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. |
