The Croatian mezzo-soprano, Diana Haller, started her voice studies with Professor Margareta Togunjac in her native town, where her final singing exam mark was accredited, and continued her academic studies at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica Giuseppe Tartini in Trieste (Italy) in the class of Professor Gloria Scalchi and M° Silvano Zabeo (2005-2008). She finished her Bachelor studies achieving the highest mark and praise under the leadership of Professor Cinzia de Mola. Immediately after that Diana was admitted to the Master of Arts degree at the Royal Academy of Music (London) in the class of Professor Anne Howells and graduated with distinction (DipRAM) in only one year (2008-2010). She has been also a Samling Masterclasses scholar. After her UK studies Diana continued her Postgraduate studies at the University of Music in Stuttgart / Germany in the Master Lied Class with Professor Cornelis Witthoefft and in the Soloist Opera School degree with Professor Dunja Vejzović. Master-classes she attended include Miriam Spano (Italy), Gloria Paulizza (Italy), Luciana D'Intino (Italy), Stelia Doz (Italy), Guido Salvetti (Italy), Martine Surais Deschamps (France), Catherine Denley (England), Diane Forlano (England), Laurence Cummings (England), Yvonne Kenny (England), Malcolm Martineau (England), Paul Farrington (England), Emma Kirkby (England), Shirley Close (USA), Birgid Steinberger (Germany), Melanie Diener (Germany), Jan Philip Schülze (Germany) and others.
Diana Haller has participated at several national and international competitions, always being awarded a prize or winning (Croatian National Chamber Competition, International Music Competition Riviera del Conero in Italy, Croatian National Competition for Soloists, Competition Istria Nobilissima). She also won several bursaries and prizes like the Edna Bralesford Prize (at the RAM) and scholarships from the Ananian Foundation (Italy) and the City of Rijeka (Croatia).
Diana Haller has already has a wide international experience in both opera, oratorio and on the concert platform. She established the "Duo in Furore" with the guitarist Federico Rossignoli performing voice-guitar repertoire and with Michele Gamba she formed the "Duo Cantabile" exploring the English, French, German and Italian song. Diana has been frequently invited to take part in the first performance of various new-written works like the Messa Ritmica Latina by D. Prašelj and Kosovel Lieder by C. Tommasi, and has also taken part in the RAM's Song Circle.
Performances include a J.S. Bach/George Frideric Handel concert with Concerto Köln and the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks (Director: Peter Dijkstra), G.F. Handel cantatas and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater with the Diapason Ensemble in Italy, Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria and Charpentier's Te Deum with the Rijeka Chamber Orchestra, Schubert's Magnificat with the Piccolo coro e orchestra from Prague, Igor Stravinsky’s Three Songs from William Shakespeare with the Manson Ensemble in London and Rodewald's Stabat Mater with the Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim.
On the operatic stage Diana Haller has participated in various opera scenes at the Royal Academy of Music, as well as in the University of Music in Stuttgart. She has performed various roles in The Fairy Queen by Purcell twice in Croatia with great success (conductors: Laurence Cummings in Varaždin and Davide Stefanutti in Rijeka), and has sung the title role in G.F. Handel’s Rinaldo in Italy. During the 2009-2010 season Diana was a member of the opera studio at the State Opera Stuttgart and gave her debut as Knappe in Parsifal (R. Wagner), later roles included Glascha in Katja Kabanová (L. Janáček) and Mercédès in Carmen (Georges Bizet).
From the 2010-2011 season on Diana Haller became the youngest member of the soloist ensemble starting the season with Laura in a new production of Verdi's Luisa Miller. Future roles at the State Opera Stuttgart included Mère Jeanne in Francis Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmelites (new production) and Rossini's Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia. In April 2011, at the Handel London Festival she performed the title role in Johann Adolf Hasse's Siroe, Re di Persia, which was originally written for the famous castrato Farinelli. At the Rossini Bad Wildbad Festival 2011 she sang the role of Alberto in Balducci's Il noce di Benevento, for which she was given the prestigious International Belcanto Award, and partecipate in a Rossini Concert. In July Diana gave her debut with the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart (Helmuth Rilling) singing W.A. Mozart's Requiem. She started the 2011-2012 season at the State Opera Stuttgart with Oberto in G.F. Handel's Alcina and Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. Further roles include Erste Magd in Strauss's Elektra and Prinz Orlowsky in Die Fledermaus. A Bellini Recital is planned in March 2012 at the Stuttgart's Opera as well. |
