The Australian tenor, Damien Hall, grew up in Canberra's rich amateur dramatic scene, with many opportunities to grow in roles such as Petruchio in Benjamin Britten's The Taming of the Shrew and Enjolras in Les Miserables. Then In 2005 he was encouraged to apply for the Operatunity Oz competition, where he reached the semi finals and was invited to audition for Opera Australia.
Damien Hall has sung with Opera Australia's chorus for the past 17 years. He started with the 2006 Pirates of Penzance tour, followed by opera and operetta in 6 Languages. He was featured in the Cockney Quartet for the 2008 My Fair Lady tour and performed at the Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour five times, including the first.
Double Trouble was Damien Hall's first appearance for Endangered Productions and was thrilled by the opportunity. He was Bastien in their production of W.A. Mozart’s Bastien & Bastienne at Customs House (2020). Of this performance, Sydney Arts Guide described a "fine vocal delivery”. He was also Barman in their production of J.S. Bach's Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht - also known as the Coffee Cantata BWV 211 (2021). He returned to perform in their 2023 production It's So Last Century as a party guest and donkey man.
When Damien Hall is not singing opera, he has enjoys singing with the Sydney a Capella group, Cantabile for the last 7 years. He has been a proud member of the MEAA since 2007. He currently lives in Sydney, New South Wales. |
