The German soprano, Mirella Hagen, began her vocal studies in Karlsruhe with Professor Christiane Hampe and continued in Stuttgart with Professor Ulrike Sonntag and Professor Cornelis Witthoefft (Lied). She graduated with honors. She was promoted by the "Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now" Association Stuttgart, the German National Academic foundation and the Richard-Wagner-Association. During her studies, she took part in numerous master-classes, i.a. with KS Edith Mathis, Prof. Ulf Bästlein and Charles Spencer, as well as KS Helen Donath and Helmut Deutsch and participated in the Liedforum at UdK-University of Arts Berlin. She was the winner of the Hochschulwettbewerb 2008 in Freiburg (2nd Prize), the Paula Salomon-Lindberg Competition at UdK Berlin, the 1st International Hugo Wolf Competition Slovenj Gradec 2012 (Concert-Prize) and she was in the final of the Hugo Wolf Competition in Stuttgart 2012.
In 2010-2011 season, Mirella Hagen was a member of the Opera Studio at the Staatsoper Stuttgart and as such made her Stuttgart State Opera debut as Annchen in Freischutz in the widely celebrated production by Achim Freyer. In 2011-2012 season, she was part of the ensemble of the Theater Regensburg, singing Gretel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel. In 2011-2012 she was a member oft he Regensburg Theater, In 2012-2013, she was engaged at the Royal Flemish Opera Antwerpen (Belgium), where she appeared as 1st Knappe and 1st Blumenmädchen in Parsifal, which won the Opera Award (director: Tatjana Gürbaca, conductor: Eliahu Inbal). She also performed at the Opera Dortmund and Komische Oper Berlin, as well as the Bayreuth Festival.
Mirella Hagen's operatic repertoire includes roles such as Musetta in La Bohème, Zdenka in Arabella, 1st Blumenmädchen in Parsifal, Anna Kennedy in Maria Stuarda, Ännchen in Der Freischütz, Valencienne in Die lustige Witwe, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, Papagena in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Anna in Nabucco, the 5th Magd in Elektra, Juliette Vermont in The Count of Luxemburg, Woglinde in Rheingold and Gotterdammerung, and Waldvogel in Siegfried,.
Mirella Hagen has sung in concerts and recitals at the Oberstdorfer Musiksommer, Beethovenfest Bonn, Europäisches Musikfest Stuttgart, Ljubljana Festival, Oberstdorfer Musiksommer, Bachwoche Stuttgart and Hugo-Wolf-Akademie Stuttgart. In 2014 Mirella Hagen gave her debut in South-Korea and Milano with Helmuth Rilling conducting the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart in W.A. Mozart's Exsultate, jubilate and J.S. Bach's Magnificat (BWV 243). She returned to the Royal Flemish Opera singing Soprano I in W.A. Mozart's C-Minor-Mass with Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli conducting. Recent projects include: debut as Adina in L'elisir d’amore and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at State Opera Braunschweig, and J.S. Bach's St. Mathew Passion ( BWV 244) with Helmuth Rilling in Moscow (Russia).. |
