The English choral conductor, baritone and teacher, Harry Guthrie, spent a year as the Bass Choral Scholar at Wells Cathedral (September 2017-July 2018). He read Music at Trinity College, Cambridge (Class of 2021), where he was Choral Scholar in Trinity College Choir of Cambridge (September 2018-July 2022; Director: Stephen Layton). He has studied conducting with Stephen Layton and Paul Spicer.
Harry Guthrie founded Continuum in 2018 and directs the group in concerts and recordings in and around London. In addition to being Director of Music at St Barnabas’ Church, Ealing (since May 2023), he has been a Guest Conductor for the Cambridge University Chamber Choir, the Rodolfus Choir and has directed Ely Cathedral Choir. He will begin a new role as Musical Director of Fulham Camerata in September 2024.
Passionate about working with young people, Harry Guthrie is Head of Choral Music at Notting Hill and Ealing High School (since January 2023). He has previously worked at Wells Cathedral School, St John’s College School, Cambridge (September 2021-July 2023), St Catharine’s College, Cambridge (September 2022-July 2023) and at Ely Cathedral (April-July 2023). Harry enjoys annual work with the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and the Rodolfus Foundation, both of which were instrumental in developing his love of choral music. He currently lives in London.
