The German baritone, organist and and choral conductor, Maik Gruchenberg, was born in Erfurt, and gew up in Suhl.From 1992 to 1996, he studied church music at the Ev. Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Halle (Saale), obtaining B degree. From 1996 to 1999, he studied church music also in Halle (Saale), obtaining A degree: organ with Professors Schäfer, Matthias Dreißig and Linde Mothes, and conducting with Professors Gleim
and Manfred Fabricius.
From 1996 to 2000, Maik Gruchenberg was choral assistent at Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Halle. From 1999 to 2001, he studied Lied and oratorio, also in Halle (Saale) with Kammersängerin Petra-Ines Strate. Since 1999, he is an opera choir member and sings solo as baritone at the Oper Halle. From 1999 to 2004, he was a church musician, volunteering at the Marktkirche Unserer Lieben Frauen in Halle (Saale). Since 2004, he is a free volunteer church musician in Kirchenkreis Halle. From 2005 to 2010, he was Director of the chamber choir Convivium Musicum. Since 1995, he gives solo organ recitals and accompanies singers or instrumentalists at home and abroad (Switzerland and USA). Since 1999, he appears as a soloist as Lieder and oratorio singer.
Since 2005, Maik Gruchenberg is a member of the Händelfestspielchor at Handel House in Halle (Saale), has given several Lieder recitals at the Oper Halle and other venues, organ-accompanies singers, participates in oratorios in Halle (Saale) and its surrounding. In December 2010, he was appointed Choral Director of the Hallesche Kantorei. |
