Dmitry Grinikh (Baritone)

Born: Russia

The Russian baritone and singing teacher, Dmitry [Dmitrii] Grinikh (Russian: Гриних Дмитрий Николаевич), graduated from the Russian Academy of Music named after Gnesiny, the Vocal Faculty, with excellent marks in 1999 and then a postgraduate course in 2001. Yet being a first-year student he got a grant from the international programme “New Names”. He is laureate of several international competitions.

Since 2000, Dmitry Grinikh has had performing activity. He performed not only in Moscow and St. Petersburg but in many other Russian cities and towns, such as Arkhangelsk, Astrakhan, Bryansk, Novgorod, Oryol, Tver, Ulianovsk etc, as well as abroad: in Vienna, Bratislava, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Krakow, Prague, Cetinie etc. Participated in many festivals: Moscow Autumn, Minsk Autumn, January Evenings in Brest, ArsMusika in Poland etc.

Dmitry Grinikh's singing repertoire comprises music from 14th to 19th centuries. The most favourite genre is Song Recital (or Liederabend). For many years in cooperation with a pianist Svyatoslav Khitev he has been creating programmes of chamber music of 19th-21st centuries, including the four concerts programme of all the romances by P. Tchaikovsky. He often takes part in organ music concerts with such organists as T. Andrianova, L. Golub, M.Voinova, A. Petrova, O. Rostovskaya, A. Semenov, F. Stroganov, D. Ushakov. With symphonic orchestras he has performed leading parts in the following pieces of music: cantata Moscow by P. Tchaikovsky, Stabat Mater by K. Shimanovsky, cantatas by J.S. Bach. Performing with the Orchestra Kapella of Grodno (Belarus), he created vocal circuits by Gustav Mahler, M. Karlovich, Dmitri Shostakovich. He often performs Polish vocal music. The first Russian performer of the chamber music pieces by G. Guretsky.

Dmitry Grinikh is Professor of the Solo Singing Department at the International Slavic Institute, Since 2014 he is a member of Polish Union of Teachers-Singers (PSPS). He is the author of more than 20 scientific articles on the problems of vocal pedagogy. He is juror of some Russian and international song contests.
