Alice Gregorio (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: France

The French mezzo-soprano, Alice Gregorio, began studying the violin before pursuing a lyric training in the class of Mireille Alcantara. She obtained her DEM degree, trained in stage work in Joëlle Vautier's opera class, then perfected with Armande Olivier and Nadine Denize and various singing directors, notably Antoine Palloc, Christophe Manien and Anne Marie Fontaine. In 2011, she won the second operetta prize at the Concours International de Chant de Marmande. Passionate about languages ​​and literature, she obtained a DEUG degree in German, Master degrei in Classical Literatures and a Magisterium of Classical Antiquity. Exploring the poetic universe of melody and Lied, she took part in the master-classes of François Leroux, Graham Johnson, Philipp Moll and Regina Werner, and obtained in 2008 a Master II Art of Recital.

Attracted by Baroque music, Alice Gregorio joined the ensemble Opera Fuoco in 2011 and Les Arts Florissants (Director: William Christie). She notably played the role of Aglatida in Zanaïda, opera by Johann Christian Bach, at the Cité de la Musique in Paris, conducted by David Stern. In the ensemble of Les Arts Florissants, she participated in various concerts and recordings under the baton of William Christie and Paul Agnew, as well as educational actions, notably around Dido and Aeneas by Purcell (role of Dido) and Belshazzar of George Frideric Handel (role of Cyrus). At the Festival of Aix-en-Provence 2012, she was the second Donna in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Théâtre de l'Archevêché, under the baton of Jérémie Rhorer and staged by Richard Brunel. She was also Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, Orpheus in Gluck's Orpheus, Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and Second Lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, during the Nuits d'Été Festival, at the Hotel Gouthière in Paris.

In a more recent repertoire, Alice Gregorio performed at the Rouen Opera the role of Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck (conductor: Robert Houssard, staged by Federico Grazzini), as well as the roles of a Page and a Lady in Wagner's Lohengrin (conductor: Rudolph Piehlmayer, staged by Carlos Wagner). In Carmen by Georges Bizet, she sang the role of Mercedes, during a tour in the Benelux (conductor: Konrad Leitner, staged by Dominique Serron), and during a tour in France with the Operas en plein air (conductor: Paul-Emmanuel Thomas, staged by Manon Savary and Patrick Poivre d'Arvor). She was also Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette by Charles Gounod, as well as Rosette in Manon by Massenet during the Festival Lyrique en Marmandais (conductor: Philippe Mestres, staged d by Michèle Herbé).

She has also appeared in some operetta works and performed the roles of Metella in La Vie Parisienne and La Périchole in La Périchole by Offenbach's (conductor: Olivier Holt, staged by Bernard Pisani), Mirabelle in Les Aventures du roi Pausole by Arthur Honegger and Mariana in Gipsy by Lopez (conductor: Éric Sprogis, staged by Michèle Herbé). Finally, she is also interested in contemporary repertoire and played Alma in Fernando Fiszbein's opera, Avenida de los Incas 3518, conducted by Pierre Strauch and staged by Agnès Jaoui and Aurélie Berland (Journées de la Composition, CNSM of Paris).

Frequently sought-after as a soloist for concerts of sacred and secular music (works by J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, Antonio Vivaldi, Purcell, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Francesco Durante, W.A. Mozart, Rossini, Schubert, Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn ...), she has also participated in various shows. mixed arts, including Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 3, choreographed by John Neumeier (Opéra National de Paris, 2009), De l’autre côté (On the Other Side), choreographed by Stéphane Elizabé (Amphitheater Bastille, 2006), and Les Masques de Venus (Festival Off d'Avignon 2004). She currently lives in Paris, France.
