The German tenor, conductor and organist, Tobias Götting, received his musical education at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover with Harald Vogel und Hans-Christoph Becker-Foss. After passing the A-examination with honour in 1993, he studied the subject chamber music/piano companiment at the same university. In 1994 led him to Paris for private studies with Naji Hakim, the successor Olivier Messiaen at Ste. Trinité. Since then he gave regularly concerts in France and others in the cathedrals of Montpellier, Cahors, Dijon, Toulouse, Paris (Madeleine, Notre-Dame, Trinité, St. Etienne-du-Mont) and at the Festival of pc. Bertrand de Comminges. In 1997 he completed his organ studies with Professor Wolfgang Zerer at the Hochschule Groningen with the concert exam. Master-classes with Daniel Roth, Guy Bovet and Sergiu Celibidache rounded off his training.
Since 1996 Tobias Götting is Kantor and organist at St. Lamberti, Oldeburg’s main church. From 1993 to 1997 Tobias Götting worked as organ and a piano companion of the Knabenchor Hannover (director: Heinz Hennig), which he accompanied on numerous tours by many countries of Europe, Russia and South Africa. From this co-operation three CD were brought out works of Franz Liszt, Widor, Vierne and Duruflé as well as several broadcast productions followed. At the beginning of 2000 he made his first solo concert of François Couperin’s works, which received excellent criticisms. He feels particularly connected with the music of Maurice Duruflé's (1902-1986), whose complete work (choir, orchestra and organ works) were pewrformed in Oldenburg in 1992 in a world-wide unique "Hommage à Maurice Durflé". As an expert for Duruflés music he was invited to give courses at several German universities. |
