The German choral conductor, Andreas Göpfert, was up to the Exams (1966) a member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor, where in particular Kreuzkantor Rudolf Mauersberger shaped its music. Becoming acquainted with the most important works of the church music from past and present initiated the development of the study of musicology, school music and German at the Martin-Luther-Universität in Halle-Wittenberg. There, as a member of the chamber choir Hallenser Madrigalisten, he got practical experience by performances of the music from Renaissance and Early Baroque.
Since 1980 Andreas Göpfert leads this ensemble, tours with which led him to European countries and to Israel. Several CD productions, broadcast and television programmes, as well as several 1st and 2nd Prizes with international choir competitions (Debrecen, Marktoberdorf, Tolosa, "Let the Peoples Sing" the EBU) gave his vocal ensemble also international fame.
For a long time Andreas Göpfert worked, apart from his intensive occupation with choir music, as a lector at Leipzig's of music publishing houses. From this successful activity a various choir and seminar work agitated. Besides his choir and seminar work, he is President of the "Arbeitskreises Musik in der Jugend", and the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Chorverbände", as well as Juror with choir and composition competitions. As a music journalist he takes position to choir questions and gives change occasionally for various publishing houses choir music. Since 1996 is Professor Andreas Göpfert holds the chair for choir directing at Hochschule of Saarlandes für Musik und Theater and leads the Hochschul- und Kammerchor. Since 1997 he leads the Evangelische Chorgemeinschaft of the Saar. |
