The Canadian bass-baritone, Thomas Goerz, made his his debut season at Glimmerglass, where he was featured in Salome and La Boheme. Following that he was in Cincinnati for his first Papageno in The Magic Flute.
Thomas Goerz' operatic repertoire ranges from George Frideric Handel's Rosalinda which he performed at the Aldeburgh Festival, to Petwer Maxwell Davis’ Eight Songs for a Mad King, which he performed in Banff to great public and critical acclaim and which was also broadcast by CBC.
Indications of his range and versatility are his frequent appearances in recital and oratorio as well as operetta and musical theatre. Thomas Goerz made his Kennedy Center debut in Washington Opera’s acclaimed production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Ruddigore and won renown performances in Canadian productions for Virginia Opera of Les Misérables (as Javert), Phantom of the Opera and Mikado. His unique vocal quality and dramatic integrity brought distinction to his performances in the World Premiere of The Golden Ass for the Canadian Opera directed by Colin Graham and The Taming Of The Shrew for Pacific Opera Victoria. The Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, COC, Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and the Kitchener Waterloo Philharmonic Choir have engaged him for works ranging from Haydn Masses and G.F. Handel's Messiah, to Julius Caesar and W.A. Mozart's Requiem. He is in demand for concerts in Japan, Canada and the USA.
