The Swiss tenor, Nino Aurelio Gmünder, received his first musical education in the age of 8t, playing the violin. At school he played roles in opera projects, such as Monostatos from the Magic Flute and Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, at that time as baritone. Before he started his study at the university, he had singing lessons with Peter Kalman and Paul Steiner. His teaching diploma he has successfully completed with Professor Lina Maria Äkerlund at the Musikhochschule Zürich, and attended the concert-class with Werner Güra since 2008. He also attended master-classes with Meinard Kraak and John Norris. Beside his busy singing studies he also studied conducting with conducting with Marc Kissoczy and Nathan Brock.
Already during his studies, the young lyric tenor sang in the 2006-2007 season at the Theater Basel in a co-production of the theater with the Music Academy in Basel, where he played the role of the mayor in Mario und der Zauberer by Stephen Oliver. The focus of his repertoire are works from the Baroque to the Modern, Classical and Romantic. In participates in concerts in Switzerland and in neighboring countries.
In addition to the operatic repertoire the oratorio and the Lieder repertoire takes an important part of his work. Nino Aurelio Gmünder sang among others at the world premiere of the oratorio Sounding Light by Johann Sonnleitner and was heard at the Tonhalle in Zürich in the Coronation Mass by Mozart conducted by Daniel Schweizer. Other oratorio roles are Paulus by Felix Mendelssohn, Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 by J.S Bach, Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) by J.S. Bach, Messiah by George Frideric Handel, Elias by F. Mendelssohn, Lobgesang by F. Mendelssohn, Die letzten Dinge by Spohr at the Fraumünster Church in Zürich. Planned are Esther by G.F. Handel and Requiem by Michael Haydn. |
