Bradford Gleim (Baritone)

Born: USA

The American baritone, Bradford Gleim, performs opera, oratorio, song and choral music to critical acclaim throughout the USA and abroad. “Gleim’s rich, expressive voice” has been described as “consistently impressive, his restraint only reinforced [by] his vocal charisma” and his flexible burnished baritone praised as “reliable and resonant.” He has appeared with such festivals and ensembles as The Bermuda Festival, Boston Cecilia, Emmanuel Music, The Handel and Haydn Society, The Hereford Three Choirs Festival, Opera Boston and the Mark Morris Dance Group.

Boston-based Bradford Gleim explores diverse repertoire with a wide variety of ensembles. On the opera stage he portrayed John Proctor in The Crucible and Frederique Bhaer in Little Women with the Boston Opera Collaborative. In recital, he created a multi-media performance of Francis Poulenc’s Le travail du peintre at the Longy School of Music which featured projections of the famous paintings that inspired both the music and the poetry of the cycle. Additionally, he was honored to offer a recital of German and American Song including Johannes BrahmsFour Serious Songs at Boston College’s Gasson Hall. In concert, he performed Samuel Barber’s Dover Beach with the Borromeo String Quartet as a recipient of the quartet’s Guest Artist Award. He has also appeared as a soloist with Boston’s premiere period orchestras: the Handel and Haydn Society under Harry Christophers and Boston Baroque with Martin Pearlman.

Bradford Gleim collaborates with some of the finest choral ensembles in the USA. As a young singer he sang with The Princeton Singers including two concert tours in England where he was featured as a soloist in Kings College, Cambridge. Gleim is a founding member of the Renaissance choir Cut Circle and is heard on the group’s recording on the Musique en Wallonie label. He sings with the newly formed Yale Choral Artists under Jeffrey Douma. He appears regularly with Craig Hella Johnson’s renown Conspirare: A Company of Voices and records with the ensemble for Harmonia Mundi. Gleim is also frequently heard with the chorus of the Handel and Haydn Society with whom he records on the Coro label.

When not singing, Bradford Gleim devotes his life to teaching. In the past he has taught in numerous settings including as a Choral Artist for the Metropolitan Opera Guild. Currently Gleim is Assistant Professor of Voice at Berklee College of Music.
