The German harpsicordist, organist ansd conductor, Romano Giefer, belongs to the musicians, who arrange their occupation from their versatility. After academic years in Freiburg and Köln he has given concerts as harpsicordist and organist all over Europe, the USA, Canada and South America, in co-operation with Thomas Hengelbrock, Philippe Herreweghe and Peter Neumann as well as James Conlon.
As a conductor Romano Giefer worked at the Potsdam's Schloßtheater, at the Aachener Bachverein and Musikfestwochen Biel/Schweiz. In 2001 he created the Canzonetta Köln, which has become a term for high-quality choir work. The same year he was appoointed as director of the Hochschulchor at the Universität zu Köln.
At the Freiburger Musikhochschule, Romano Giefer teaches tuning and general bass history. |
