The German mezzo-soprano, Sandra Gerlach, grew up in Ransbach-Baumbach and began her musical education in high school. After graduating from high school, she began her Bachelor of Music singing studies with Professor Franz-Josef Einhaus at the Musikhochschule Lübeck, which she successfully completed in June 2017. She attended master-classes with Johannes Effertz-Wolff, Carola Schlüter and Simone Kermes, among others. In the summer of 2017 and 2018 she took part in Michaela Schuster's master-class at the Internationalen Sommerakademie in Salzburg. In the 2017-2018 season she was a member of the Chorakademie der Wiener Staatsoper. She obtained her Master of Music degree in Lied/Concert in Professor Lioba Braun's class at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (October 2018-September 2021). Since October 2021, she continues her studies there for Master Master of Music degree in Theater Music/Opera.
In 2016, Sandra Gerlach sang the role of Queen Fanette in the production of Arthur Honegger's Les aventures du roi Pausole at the Theater Lübeck, directed by Michael Wallner. In April 2019, she sang the role of Lucretia in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln; and in December 2019 sang it again, this time as a guest at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. Since August 2021, she is a member of the Akademistin des Opernchores at Oper Köln. She currently lives in Cologne, Germany. |
