Violetta Gawara (Mezzo-soprano, Choral Conductor)

Born: Katowice, Poland

The Polish mezzo-soprano and choral conductor, Violetta Gawara, studied at Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music.

In the late 1990's and early 2000's, Violetta Gawara was a member of the Camerata Silesia Singing Ensemble (Director: Anna Szostak). She moved to London, where she made her London debut singing Proserpina in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo for the English Bach Festival. She now specialises in dramatic mezzo roles, such as those by Verdi, Donizetti, Tchaikovsky and Camille Saint-Saëns. She now lives in London, active there as a freelance opera singer and choral conductor. She is founder/director of Polish Children's Choir "Cantemus" and Coro dell' Angelo (founded 2009).
