Sabine Garrone (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: France

The French mezzo-soprano Sabine Garrone-Huici, studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London with Laura Sarti and studied the violin with Yfrah Neaman and Alain Moglia. She is a graduate of the Flanders Opera Studio in Ghent. She was sponsored by the ‘Mécénat Musical de la Société Générale’ since 2000 and was the winner of the Gabriel Fauré - Déodat de Séverac Award at the 2005 International Competition of French Melody in Toulouse.

Operatic roles include Georg, Mrs Gabor and Mrs Bergman in Spring Awakening (Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie and Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg); Rosina in Betrothal in a Monastery (Glyndebourne's Festival), Ruggiero in George Frideric Handel's Alcina (Jerwood Programme in Glyndebourne), Nancy in Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring (Vlaamse Opera), Suzuki in Madama Butterfly (Dijon Opera House), Sister Mathilde in Francis Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites (Orchestre National du Capitole in Toulouse), The Messenger and Hope in l’Orfeo (Soloists of The BandArt Academia), Nicklausse and The Mother in The Tales of Hoffmann and 2nd Lady in W.A. Mozart's Magic Flute (Saint-Céré Festival and tour), Israelite in Esther (Les Demoiselles de Saint-Cyr), Dorabella in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Stephano in Romeo and Juliet, Bertarido in Rodelinda (Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Flanders Opera Studio).

In concert she has worked with Michel Plasson and L'Orchestre du Capitole, Pascal Rophé and The Liège Philharmonic Orchestra , David Angus and the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, Joël Suhubiette and the Chamber Choir Les Eléments and is also featured on the "Full Fathom Five" CD which was given the Diapason d’Or award. She is also a member of Le Concert d'Astrée (Director: Emmanuelle Haïm).

Her engagements in 2011 includede a tour recital of Argentinean songs with the pianist Rebecca Chaillot. Her engagements in 2014 includeed Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at the Festival Opera in Napier (New Zealand).
