The Italian soprano, Cecilia Fusco, received her training in her father city of Rome.
Cecilia Fusco made her debut in 1958 at the Teatro Margherita in Genoa. From there her career developed rapoidly, and already at the beginning of the 1960's she joined the leading Italian opera houses. In 1960 she debuted at Milan's La Scala in Nozze di Figaro, where she later appeared as Lisa in La Sonnambula by Bellini, as Musetta in La Bohème and as Katja in the premiere of the opera Il Buono soldato Sveijk by Turchi in 1962. She also appeared regularly at the Teatro Fenice in Venice (in roles as Amor in Orpheus by Gluck and as Blondchen in Entführung aus dem Serail), Teatro San Carlo in Naples, at the Teatro Regio in Parma (in roles as Adina in Elisir d'amore 'and as Page Oscar in Verdi's Ballo in maschera), at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, at the Teatro Grande in Brescia, at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari and other Italian theaters.
Cecilia Fusco had also a successful career abroad. She performed at the Teatro Liceo in Barcelona (1961), at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, at the Opera of Antwerp (1968, 1969), in Copenhagen (1966) and Cairo, at the Cologne Opera House (1968), Austria, Yugoslavia and Switzerland. In 1971-1973 she participated in tours of the Piccolo Teatro Musicale di Roma, which led her to places as Paris and London. She continued her career until the end of the 1970's.
Among her roles should be mentioned Serpina in La serva padrona by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Elisetta in Cimarosa's Matrimonio segreto, Creusa in Medea in Corinto by Simone Mayr, Rosa in Le Cantatrice villani by Fioravanti, Fanny in La Cambiale di matrimonio and Rosina in Barbier von Sevilla by Rossini, Elvira in Bellini's I Puritani, Gilda in Rigoletto, the title role in Rita by Donizetti, Nannetta in Falstaff by Verdi and Rosaura in Le Donne curiose by E. Wolf-Ferrari.
