The German tenor, Erwin Feith, studied church music at the Musikhochschule des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken. After the exam with singing as major subject, he was prize-winner at the Walter Gieseking Competition. After the concert maturation, he studied with Professor Raimund Gilvan in Saarbrücken and Ellen Bosenius in Cologne, and began his career as an opera and concert singer.
The main stations in Erwin Feith's singing career were engagements in 1989-1990 at the Städtetheater Passau in south Bavaria; from 1990 to 1996 at the Bremer Theater; from 1996 to 2001 at the Städtischen Bühnen Nürnberg.
As a lyric tenor Erwin Feith has appeared in many roles as a lyric tenor, of which should be mentioned Tamino, Belmonte, Ferrando, Almaviva, Ramiro, Alfredo, and Erster Fremder. He excels especially as a Mozart singer, but has received regional attention also for other roles. His embodiment of Tamino brought him in 1997 two nominations for Young Artist of the Year in the Year-Book of Opernwelt. In 1999, he received the Hersfeld Opera Prize of the Hersfeld Opera Festival for the role of Tamino.
Invitations to guest appearances have led Erwin Feith to many German theatres (Bremen, Kassel, Aachen, Bonn, Koblenz, Munich Gärtnerplatz). Since 2001 he works as a freelance singer, also abroad (Granada, Maastricht). In addition to his work as an opera singer, he is a sought-after soloist for concert lyric parts, as well as for Lieder repertoire.
