The American soprano, Claire Fedoruk, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Literature from the Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma (1997), and her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music (1999). She was a recipient of University of Southern California (USC) Music Scholarship in 1999-2000, and completed her Doctor of Musical degree in Early Music Historical Performance from the University of Southern California (2006).
Claire Fedoruk has collaborated with Nicholas McGegan, Robert Shaw, Helmuth Rilling, as well as early music specialists Paul O'Dette, Stephen Stubbs, and Suzie LeBlanc. Summer music festivals have included Oberlin in Italy (Italy), Pacific Music Festival (Japan), the Vancouver Early Music Programme (Canada), and Festival Ensemble Stuttgart (Germany). An early music scholar and specialist, she enjoys collaborating with colleagues in the Concord Ensemble (since 2004), Millenium Consort, LA Chamber Singers and Capella, Los Angeles Master Chorale (since 2003), Pasadena Master Chorale, LA’s Musica Angelica, Chicago’s Gravitacion, and various other vocal and instrumental groups. She is also active as a film session singer.
Claire Fedoruk has appeared as a featured soloist of George Frideric Handel’s Messiah and J.S. Bach's Weinachst-Oratorium (BWV 248) with the Los Angeles Master Chorale; Steve Reich’s You Are Variations in Los Angeles (2004) and New York (2006), Tehillim at Lincoln Center (2006), and Daniel Variations in Los Angeles (2007); McFerrin’s Brief Eternity, Messages in Los Angeles; staged version of John Adams’ El Niño at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Brooklyn; Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb in Los Angeles (2005); Arvo Pärt’s Miserere (April 2009); Igor Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms with Esa-Pekka Salonen; Louis Andriessen’s De Stijl in the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra’s Green Umbrella Series; and as a soloist under the baton of Grant Gershon, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Helmuth Rilling.
Recent solo roles or guest appearances: Toured with St James Episcopal Choir through Oxford, London, Wells, Canterbury and Salisbury as an ensemble member and a soloist (July 2010); Soprano soloist for the Johannes Brahms Requiem with the Pasadena Master Chorale (June 2010); Soprano Soloist of Gorecki’s Symphony No. 3 at the Cerritos Center (April 2010). Premiered the role of Boudicca in composer Mike Lee’s composition Boudicca (May 2010).
As an active concert and recording artist, Claire Fedoruk can be heard on Steve Reich’s You Are Variations (2007 - Nonesuch) and Daniel Variations (2008), Josh Groban’s A Collection (2008), Leanne Rimes What a Wonderful World (2004), the Grammy award winning LA Chamber Singers Capella’s Padilla: Sun of Justice and JAC Redford’s Evening Wind; Films: Slackers (2001), Click (2006), Lady in the Water (2006), License to Wed (2007), Horton Hears a Who! (2008), Race to Witch Mountain (2009), Wolverine (2009), Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2009), Avatar (2009), For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf (2010). She can also be heard as a soloist in the videogame soundtrack, Shaiya.
Claire Fedoruk was an assistant teacher of Music History at the University of Southern California from 2000 to 2003. Currently she is an assistant professor of music history at Azusa Pacific University, where she specializes in teaching modern and early music. She is a member of American Guild of Musical Artists, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Screen Actor’s Guild. She is a student of Janice McVeigh. Future projects include a position as voice faculty and soloist at several music festivals in Venezuela with Maria Guinand and Helmuth Rilling. |
