The Belgian bass, Philippe Favette, was passionate about music from an early age, and began his musical studies at the Conservatoire Royal de Liège at the age of 10. Four years later he sang in a choir school. Then he began his career as a professional singer at the Collegium Vocale Gent, conducted by Philippe Herreweghe, before joining the Choeur de Chambre de Namur (Director: Jean Tubéry), another prestigious ensemble in which he became a soloist. He holds several first prizes and a Diplôme Supérieur in Opera Singing.
Philippe Favette performs regularly as a bass-baritone soloist anywhere in Belgium but also in France, Spain, Netherlands, Poland, etc. During the last 15 years, he has sung under the direction of many great conductors such as Patrick Davin, Paul Dombrecht, Sigiswald Kuijken, Louis Langrée, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Marc Minkowski, Christophe Rousset, Jordi Savall, Jean Tubéry, Jos van Immerseel, Guy van Waas, and others.
Meanwhile Philippe Favette directed several choirs, then joined Les Pastoureaux Petits Chanteurs de Waterloo (Belgium), as Music Director. He then joined the course of the Ecole Internationale de Direction de Choeur de Namur for three years with Frieder Bernius, Pierre Cao and Denis Menier. He then gave master-classes at the Festival Europa Cantat in Linz and World Symposium for Choral Music in Minneapolis. |
