The Dutch mezzo-soprano, Anne-Marieke Evers, studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. She concentrated afterwards on music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Basel, Switzerland). She futhered her vocal studies with Mariette Witteveen (the Netherlands) and Elizabeth Daniels (USA).
In Basel Anne-Marieke Evers founded the ensemble Grand Désir with recorder player Anita Orme Della- Marta. This ensemble, that specializes in late medieval and contemporary music, made its debut at the Early Music Festival Utrecht, The Netherlands. In 2006 Grand Desir was one of the selected ensembles at the Young International Artist Presentation in Antwerp. In 2007 they performed in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, in Switzerland and at Melbourne Early Music Festival (Australia). In July 2009 they won the Friends Prize at the York Early Music Competition. They released their first CD "Danse et Chanson" in 2009 and were invited in the concert serie Netwerk Oude Muziek.
From August 2005 till June 2008 Anne-Marieke Evers was a permanent member of the Groot Omroepkoor (Netherlands Radio Choir). As a freelancer she works with the Amsterdam Baroque Choir (Director: Ton Koopman) and Cappella Amsterdam (Director: Daniel Reuss). Anne-Marieke sang in opera productions such as Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell in the title role and in L’Enfant et les Sortileges by Maurice Ravel as the Tasse Chinoise. She sings a lot of oratorio of J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, George Frideric Handel, Tippet and others. She also performed Sequenza III by Luciano Berio and Pierrot Lunaire by Arnold Schoenberg.
From August 2007 to 2011 Anne-Marieke Evers lived in Washington DC and worked as a both a solo and ensemble singer at The Washington National Cathedral (Michael Mc Carthy), and with Washington Bach Consort (Director: J. Reilly Lewis), Bach Sinfonia (Director: Daniel E. Abraham), Vocal Ensemble of the National Gallery of Art en Opera Lafayette. Bach Sinfonia released a CD with all motets of J.S. Bach with Anne-Marieke as the alto soloist. She also sang at Washington National Cathedral in a special solo performance of J.S. Bach’s Matthew Passion (BWV 244) with 10 singers conducted by Michael McCarthy.
In April 2009 Anne-Marieke Evers designed a family concert around an exhibition City Scapes -Dutch cities in the 17th century commissioned by the National Gallery of Art, featuring 17th Dutch music. In June 2011 they commissioned her again to design a family concert around the exhibtion on the works of Gabriel where she performed together with the Texas Childrens Choir. |
